Last night I went with my family to Longhorn Steakhouse in Niles. I know it's a chain but I might as well let you know how it was! Right off the bat, while I was opening the door to the restaurant I heard country music blaring in my ears. If that's your kind of thing, awesome! If you're like me and not really a fan of country music it was a little annoying. The atmosphere of the restaurant was really relaxed. As we walked in, the host was being trained by the manager and there was only a 10 minute wait. We waited by the bar where my dad ordered a Manhattan. Apparently, there was so much ice that it was watered down and the bar tender didn't offer to redo his drink which was a little disappointing.
We were seated at a booth and the waiter came by to get our drink orders in. The menu was almost like a book! The pages were thick, but it was nice. In the steak section they had dedicated almost a whole page to showing the different cuts and explaining the meat cooking temperatures which I thought was really cool! All steak entrees came with a salad, a side, and hot out of the oven honey wheat bread. I started with a Cesar salad (my favorite) but unfortunately I forgot to snap a picture of it. I chose the Fire Grilled T-bone with a loaded baked Idaho potato for my entree. Fire Grilled T-Bone with Loaded Idaho Potato It smelled so good I almost forgot to take a picture! (If you look really close you can see I cut into it already!) Let me tell you it was phenomenal! I ordered it medium rare which was great but a little more rare than I wanted. Nonetheless, it was seasoned great, juicy, and amazing. My stomach is grumbling just thinking about it! My dad copied my order except his steak was cooked medium. My brother, ordered a burger which he said was not that great. He would have rather had Portillo's. My mom ordered the Flo's Filet cooked medium well which look good but not as great as my T-bone. ;) She liked it though! My boyfriend ordered the Flo's Filet & Grilled Shrimp combo with Rice Pilaf (I can't remember exactly what it was called.) He really liked his dish. The service was okay. Our server was nice but could have been more attentive. Although the steak was great, the menu is pricey! Be ready to dish out at least $20 a person when you go, granted it is a steak house so you're kind of asking for it. In the end I would give it 3 stars. Overall, the food was great, the service could have been better, and it was a little pricey. I would recommend it! Have you been to Longhorn's before? What was your experience like?
